'Do to others as you would have them do to you.'

Matthew 7:12

Links with Church
We have excellent links with our church, St Cuthbert’s. We hold an annual Harvest Festival at church as well as an Easter service and a joint community/ school carol service. We also carry out a church study and learn about the history of our church, baptism and holy communion as part of our R.E. lessons. Members of our clergy take Worship time, every Tuesday and we also take part in the annual church festival.

Christian Values
We live out our school vision through the Christian values of Trust, Friendship, Justice, Thankfulness, Wisdom and Forgiveness. Our values are the basis of our personal development, they make us who we are. Christian values are at the heart of church schools; they shape every aspect of school life. Our values are promoted in school every day and time is spent exploring our school vision in detail so we all have a good understanding of what this vision means to us.

Collective Worship
We have a designated time each day where children come together for their ‘collective worship’. This takes place in the school hall in a variety of ways which includes singing, finding out about the world, listening to stories and having reflection time and praying. All members of staff lead acts of worship and we have a wide spectrum of visitors who lead worship. Our local clergy, Reverend Banks, Reverend Charlie and Reverend Freeman visit weekly from The Binsey Team Mission community https://www.binsey.org.uk  Our children also lead Collective worship and include a hymn/ song and a prayer/ thought. We also include a celebration aspect to this Worship time where we give out our ‘Stars of the Week’ and monthly Maths champ and Writing and Reading certificates. Our children evaluate collective worship regularly and share their thoughts with our Chair of Governors who asks them about the styles of worship they prefer and the messages they take from worship time.

SIAMs
In June 2025 our school had its Statutory Inspection of Anglican and Methodist Schools (SIAMs).

In summary the inspection found the school is guided by its Christian principles, fostering a supportive environment where the golden rule is central. The vision shapes school strategy with regular input from staff, pupils, parents and carers.

There is an inclusive curriculum focused on wisdom, encouraging academic progress and a love for learning. Early intervention and support help pupils with additional needs, while a rich extra-curricular programme broadens opportunities, especially in music, arts and sports. Collaboration with local schools helps pupils transition smoothly to secondary education.

Collective worship is a core strength. It unites the school and church community through regular services, festivals and partnerships, fostering reflection, prayer and spiritual growth.

Strong relationships based on trust and respect create a happy, safe and inclusive community that celebrates diversity. Emotional well-being and behaviour are supported to ensure everyone feels valued and cared for.

Religious education is integral and promotes respect for diverse worldviews while the curriculum and creative lessons boost knowledge of Christianity though understanding of other beliefs could be deepened.

Justice and compassion guide school life, with pupils actively addressing issues like food insecurity and climate action. Students contribute positively to their local and wider communities.
