Key Stage 1
Our topic for this term is 'The Royal family' and we will be creating our own family trees. We will be learning who the key members of the Royal family are and creating a Royal family tree. We will also study our monarch, Charles III and other monarchs and key events linked to the monarchs in the UK.
Key Stage 2
Year 3 and 4
Our topic for the Spring term is 'The Roman Empire and its impact on Britain. We will study Julius Caesar's attempted invasion in 55-54 BC and the Roman Empire by AD 42 and the power of its army. We will also study the successful invasion by Claudius and the building of Hadrian's wall. Another part of our topic includes British resistance eg Boudica and the romanisation of Britain. Our topic will include a visit to Vindolanda and the Roman army museum, Northumberland.
Year 5 and 6
Our topic for the Spring Term is 'The Vikings' and we will study viking raids, invasion and their way of life. We will study the Viking and Anglo Saxon struggle for the kingdom of England up to the rule of Edward the Confessor. We will also learn about further Viking raids, Danegeld, Viking beliefs and Gods they worshipped, Viking travel and artefacts. We will consider the effects the Vikings had on Britain.
