Key Stage 1
Our topic for the Summer term is 'Where do I live?' and we will be learning the names of the seven continents in the world. We will also find the UK on a map and name the village, town and county we live in. We will name the four countries within the UK and their capital cities. Studying those four countries, we will identify features of each and we will also learn to describe our home and school environments.

Key Stage 2
Year 3 and 4
Our topic for this term is 'Countries of the world' and we will locate countries within the continents in the world. We will learn about capital cities around the world and identify human and physical features of Paris and Rio de Janeiro and make comparisons of the two. We will also identify their position and significance of latitude and longitude, Equator, Northern Hemisphere, Southern Hemisphere, The Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn, Arctic and Antarctic Circle and time zones with reference to the countries compared.
Year 5 and 6
Our topic for this term is 'Investigating coasts' and we will study how coasts were formed and also how caves, stacks and arches came to exist. We will consider what are the advantages and disadvantages of coastal management strategies and learn about the physical and human features of different types of beaches. We will think about how changes in land use affect the population in different ways.
