Forest School sessions provide children with the opportunity to explore and experience the natural world through practical activities in the outdoors. This helps to promote confidence, independence and self esteem. Also by using resources available in the wood and the children’s interest, we hope to stimulate imagination, creativity and enquiry skills.

Children in Year 1 and upwards in our school will have two half terms of weekly learning in the forest (weekly two hour session). This takes place at woodland at Torpenhow and is led and organised by our forest leader, Mr Jamie Rennie. Jamie has an accredited forest leader qualification.

We have an annual forest school’s assembly so parents can find out more about the learning programme. It also gives children an opportunity to share what they have been learning.
