Key Stage 1

Our topic for this term is ‘Castles’ and we will be thinking about who built the first castles in the UK, what were the Norman castles in the UK like, the history of Carlisle Castle and what features did medieval castles have and who lived there.

Key Stage 2

Year 3 and 4

Our topic for the Summer Term is ‘British settlement by the Anglo Saxons and the Scots.’ We will learn about Roman withdrawal from Britain in AD 410, the Scottish invasion from Ireland to Northern Britain and the Anglo Saxon invasion, life culture and Christian conversion in Britain.

Year 5 and 6

Our topic for the Spring Term is The Vikings and we will learn about viking raids, invasion and their way of life. We will focus on the Viking and Anglo-Saxon struggle for the kingdom of England, up to the reign of Edward the Confessor. Other studies include danegeld, Viking beliefs and Gods, travel, artefacts and the impact of the Viking way of life in Britain today.
